Not all leaders make themselves known, some choose instead to make those who feel invisible, visible again. This month, we want to recognize a local leader in our community, In My Father’s Kitchen (IMFK), for the incredible work they do every day to serve the homeless community throughout Syracuse. Their mission extends far beyond meeting immediate needs; they are building genuine relationships rooted in compassion, dignity, and hope.
The IMFK’s Street Outreach team assists chronically homeless individuals living on the streets of Syracuse who face disabilities that prevent them from adequately caring for themselves. These disabilities often include substance abuse, mental illness, chronic illness, and physical challenges that leave them vulnerable to crime, disease, hunger, and hopelessness. Through compassion, consistency, and care, IMFK meets people where they are; offering not just food, but hope and a pathway toward stability.
As a woman-owned and operated business, Peace at Homecare is especially inspired by IMFK’s Restore Outreach for Women program. This initiative is dedicated to offering women experiencing homelessness a safe space to reset, restore, and rebuild. Within this supportive environment, women are empowered to take meaningful steps on their healing journey.
IMFK’s compassion doesn’t stop there. Their Hire Ground Initiative, in partnership with the County of Onondaga, provides unemployed individuals with an opportunity for real change. Through this day-labor program, participants gain valuable work experience and access to the support services they need to rebuild their lives, a beautiful example of how community collaboration can create lasting impact.
So, how can you help?
IMFK recently launched their Taste & See product line, locally made foods that allow the community to “eat with a purpose.” All proceeds directly support the organization’s life-changing outreach programs.

As the season of gratitude approaches, Peace at HomeCare is excited to explore a special partnership with In My Father’s Kitchen to give back to our Syracuse community. Stay tuned for 'Harvesting Hope', a Thanksgiving-inspired initiative where we’ll raise funds, pack essentials, and spread warmth to those in need this holiday season.
