Local Departments of Aging

Your county's office for the aging is a great place to start for everything from caregiver respite options to transportation services.

Each office provides access to a wide network of services; including caregiver support groups, financial assistance programs, and long-term care planning.


Alzheimer’s Association – Central New York Chapter

Caring for a loved one with dementia comes with unique challenges. The Alzheimer’s Association Central New York Chapter offers a wealth of free resources for caregivers and families, including:

  • Virtual and in-person caregiver support groups

  • Educational webinars and early-stage engagement programs

Empower Parkinson’s

Empower Parkinson’s provides both patients and caregivers with ongoing education, movement classes, and support groups designed to encourage independence and improve quality of life. Their free and low-cost programs include:
